Products that are made for profit will commonly attempt to cut corners to have the largest profit margin. Making them commonly over priced with cheap parts and equipment. Meaning they may not always be of the highest quality. However products made to benefit others the first goal is high quality not necessarily cutting corners and making a cheap product but they may have limited resources.
For example a company like supreme essentially will make regular clothes with their logo on it and sell it for outrageous amounts of money. They are not attempting to benefit everyone and help others who need nice comfortable close. It is simply just for profit. An example of a product designed only to benefit others is Dasani water. They provide clean drinking water for a cheap price to make it affordable for nearly everyone.
They are many pros and cons with these to 2 paths of product design. They biggest factor is money. Most things of high quality require lots of money and skill and people who possess these skills commonly want to be reward fairly. Meaning products for profit can at times be even better than product to benefit others however much more expensive. There are obviously many many exceptions since companies, organizations and products all differ greatly.
